Overview

Former Admin and bow-tie afficionado, plusnine has been a significant figure in VoxelHistory. In addition to compiling the original "Official Voxel Box Texture Pack" two server worlds ago, and designing and implementing the first Deep Space world and Texture Pack, plusnine is always looking for new ways to get players build and have new experiences on The Voxel Box. He has made important contributions to major gameplay components like the Ninewerks Tools, the VoxelPort plugin and and MetroVox designs, as well as just-for-fun server culture tidbits like the LBBs, Sweet Treats, the Bouncy Castle and Cakester's.

A master VoxelSniper, plusnine produced (now-outdated) tutorials on this amazing tool alongside przerwap and the other developers. Those videos can be found on plusnine's YouTube channel.

plusnine's regular in-game project and duties include:

plusnine is rarely seen not wearing his trusty Vortex Manipulator armbands. Its features include:

  • teleportation
  • a cloaking device
  • a zero point energy field generator
  • a 1.21 gigawatt directional electrical blaster
  • matter transference from the Factory Showroom
  • a secret compartment that holds up to 1 oz. kg of ShortTop Leaf and a Pipe
  • hosting a chat room where plusnine and VoxelGod talk about kittens.

Out-of-game, plusnine:

  • developed server policies, and concepts.
  • is an active VoxelWiki administrator.
  • developed the Palceon Texture Pack.
  • maintains the Deep Space Texture Pack.
  • produced regular video segments for use on The Voxel Box YouTube Channel, and takes a sick pleasure in leaving cutting replies to the wayward commenter.
  • participated as a creative consultant, tester and documentation support for several VoxelPlugins.

It has been an absolute whirlwind, the last year playing with you all on this server. I'd had Minecraft for a few weeks and seen a few screenshots of multiplayer servers, and when I saw The Voxel Box, and Featherblade's amazing design for Citadel City, I knew I'd found the server for me. I tried for two weeks to log into this server, and when I finally managed to get in on a guest weekend, I had no idea what I was in for. From ELEVn's trickster pranks to przerwap's amazing VoxelSniper tool to Deamon5550's incredible redstone scrapyard, every day was a new adventure. I have never seen a server host as dedicated as ridgedog is at keeping the machine in working order and available to players 24 hours a day with robust power-sharing structures in place to make sure that the administrative team could get things done.

Time passed. Mountains raised and crumbled. Oceans spread out over the horizon and Pangea came into view with its dedicated Texture Pack. VoxelDoop changed guest building forever, and The Daro blossomed with new build talent arriving to the server every week. It has been such a pleasure to watch the continents get developed covered in MetroVox railways and other new forms of Travel and to try to serve the membership as best I can, showcasing your tremendous talents on the Map and in various videos. I have very much enjoyed working with all of you here on The Voxel Box and will be back now and then to see new Cities and Cyrica and experience the new gifts the future versions of plugins like VoxelTronix will bring the ever-growing number of worlds on The Voxel Box.

It is a big universe out there, and there is so much to know. The greatest resources you'll have for learning are the people you meet and work alongside. Thank you all for being those people for me, I have learned so much from each and every one of you. I'll leave you with a few more thoughts contained in the embedded videos below. --Plusnine 22:12, 14 July 2011 (CDT)

Other Contributions

In addition to his own rotating set of outfits, plusnine designed player skins for several other players. They include:

NPC Skins:

More recently, he's begun to take up a little programming, developing the VoxelPlus plugin.

Trivia

  • plusnine tried for two weeks just to log in to The Voxel Box.
  • on his first day on the server, he was scared by ridgedog, who made him climb the Tree of Life in Citadel City.
  • plusnine's whitelist build was the S.S. Dauntless.
  • plusnine ran a realty business on the side. This is how the server acquired The Daro Lodge.
