The Wild West
Overview
Hold onto your hats, pardner! Huge tracts of freshly generated land will provide a new frontier to explore and develop completely freely away from pesky or nosy server staff. This area has no land use claims system other than what and where you build! With no check-ins required to start your new settlement, this promises to be one of the most active areas in the New Worlds!

- The familiar Towns and Cities system will continue to be in effect for The Wild West.
- The New Trade Cities serves as the arrival from the new spawn point into The Wild West. Take the Portal Train at the Spawn Point to get there!
- The Wild West will open with a landscape almost as large as the entirety of Pangea's. This landscape will eventually expand further north and west with more new continents waiting to be discovered!
- An annotated travel Map of the Wild West will be created at regular intervals.
Building in the Wild West
- Members will continue make VoxelWiki pages for and maintain a catalog of Wild West Towns and Wild West Cities. Explore, settle and build, build!, BUILD! The only difference is that no claims will need to be made!
- You must check with a city's architect before building in their project!: Stay on your own plot, you lily-livered claim-jumper!
- A polite architect always asks if they are starting something new within two horizons of an existing settlement (about 300 blocks). If you get close, make sure your town relates to its neighbors somehow: The best builds are always playing out a story in relation: Group your towns up in a way that makes sense: Are they trading? Exploiting eachother? At war?. Build with your friends and connect your settlements with roads, rails and stories!
- For information on how members+ can build their own rail lines, please see the MetroVox Tutorial. No special admin commands are required to build your own rail line! Be aware though, it is still a lot of work, and is best tackled with a LiteSniper to use his copypasta brush. For the best MetroVox experience, plan and implement your rail line carefully. Use your compass and your corrdinates to pick out the best path for your rail line. Place markers so you know where you've been and where you are going!
- In an effort to make the Wild West more travelable by MetroVox, please join the project The Wild West Metrovox. We need towns and cities who want to be connected to put themselves on the list. Also we need people to build stations and tracks. Pcisbetter 18:16, 24 January 2012 (CST)
Staff Advice
Staff will visit The Wild West about once a month. The purpose of these visits will be to implement VoxelPorts between particularly outstanding towns in this area and ensure that new terrain is always made available to players looking to start new Wild West Towns. Because of the limited staff oversight in this area, here are some advice the staff feel will help you ensure that your project in The Wild West is a successful one:
- Group up and start apart: The Wild West is huge, so keep scouting for a prime spot! Team up with your friends and have a clear vision in mind and your projects will develop a lot quicker.
- Keep Quality High: The Wild West is not the place for unfinished or abandoned projects. You may want to spend a few weeks as a new Member building in others' towns, and familiarizing yourself with the map before starting a whole new town.
- Remember to include a feature in your Project: Don't just be a collection of houses, get a feature structure or three in there that really set your town apart! Connecting to a Friend's town physically and thematically is a good thing. Let your building tell a story!
- Don't ignore transit: Want more people to visit your town? Build a road or design a rail line to any friendly neighboring towns and share one VoxelPort. The more well-connected and polished your region is, the more likely staff will be to add fast-travel options to it.
